Visit The Garden

There is no reason I can see
Why anyone should visit me.
My house is very badly run -
I sit too often in the sun.
My garden's full of wicked weeds,
And seldom gets the care it needs!

But at the moment there is treasure,
In which the caller may find pleasure,
The apple trees are bravely dressed
With pale pink blossom at its best;
And, in addition, you can see
Three kittens and a lilac tree.

These will not last - the kits will grow,
And apple-blossom fall like snow.
I do not wish to ape my betters
And write you importuning letters,
But, if you're passing, come and see
The kittens, and the lilac tree.
