Cancerous

Give time for the cancer to spread.
Leave the infection to merrily run its course.
Let it foul the waters we drink,
And rittle our crops and cattle until they never wake.

Lie With My Countrymen

Here I lie in a time now lost,
To me and my countrymen.
But we still want and wait and worry,
That our prices to bear are given to wind tossed.
A tale my friend like any other,
O how I long for it to end.

Ramp Ceremony in the Snow

WINNER OF POETRY COMPETITION ENDING MARCH 2012

Ranks of soldiers flank the way
to honour the fallen who leave here today.
On a frozen airfield, white with snow
we wait in silence for the coffins to show.

The cold cuts through us, we feel its bite
but our thoughts are with those who have died in this fight.
From behind we hear a muffled command,
we salute our comrades, united we stand.

Recession

There was a young man in the bank,
Who thought it a wonderful prank,
To purchase sub-prime,
He thought it sublime,
That stupid young man in the bank.

There was an old man in the city,
For brains he had none, what a pitty.
To buy his estate,
His bonus did take,
That stupid old man in the city.

The public had little to spend,
Recession it wouldn't soon end.
So they saved what they had,
And thought it was bad,
The public with nothing to spend.

The Convoy

The submarines were waiting
as the convoy put to sea
to take supplies to russia
and thwart the enemy

from liverpool the convoys came
to beat the u boats at their game
to try and tiptoe safely past
til they had reached their goal at last

The Machine

WINNER OF POETRY COMPETITION ENDING JAN 2012

I went to the doctors the other day
Told him me boobs were sore
I'm sure there's nothing wrong he said
Have a mammogram  just to be sure.

The Old Soldier

With well worn poppy on his breast
and tarnished medals on his chest
the old mans hand was on his heart
so proud that he had played his part

And he remembered once again
the battlefields,the mud and rain
and knew again the living hell
where all around his comrades fell

Titanic Remembered - The Voyage

Titanic Remembered 1912 – 2012

The Voyage

Lay still Majestic Lady, in your slumber beneath the deep
Hold close those there with you, as they sleep their eternal sleep
Many long years have now passed since you graced these shores and isles
When many hearts went with you, full of tears, hopes and smiles

Wooton Bassett...a tribute

The town stood still and silent
as the coffins slowly passed
to the sound of muffled drumbeats
lost heroes...home at last.
