What a Carry On (Tribute to The "Carry On" Team)

WHAT A CARRY ON !

It all started with a sergeant,
A matron, and a couple of nurses;
A wealth of British comedy,
Summed up, within these verses.

Sid James, the bloke with the cackling laugh,
Charles Hawtrey, with his little round glasses;
Ted Ray as the bewildered headmaster,
Trying to control his unruly classes.

Kenneth Connor at the maternity hospital,
Waiting for his wife to give birth;
Jack Douglas, with his nervous twitches,
Hattie Jacques, with her exorbitant girth.

Kenneth Williams, with his snooty ways,
Peter Butterworth, owned the tent site.
Terry Scott as the bewildered camper,
Harry H. Corbett conveniently, gave us a fright.

Bernard Bresslaw, with his deep, booming voice,
Catch phrase…”Well, I only asked”…
Joan Simms, the buxom girl with cleft chin,
Memories of a comical past.

Only a few, original members still with us,
The cast listed here, have now gone;
Yet, their films entertain new generations,
Their legacy will Carry On.
