David and Goliath
David and Goliath Story
I’m David.
The young one, with brothers all older.
Who went off to battle,
They thought they were bolder.
They went to the Philistines
To have a big barney;
And when they got hungry
I took them a sarnie.
A giant was there,
He was built like a wall.
But the harder they come,
The harder they fall.
He was massive … a giant,
With dirty great armor.
He looked really mean. I thought,
“He’s a right charmer”.
My brothers all told me
The whole army was fearful.
The king, he was worse.
He was even quite tearful.
“I’ll fight him”, I said.
“God’s taller than him.
With God on my side
I can hardly not win”.
I went to the stream
And picked up a stone.
Then into my sling …
And then it was thrown.
It entered his head
With a dirty great thump.
Then down to the ground
Fell that horrid great lump.
I took out his sword,
It was bigger than me.
I waved it around,
And shouted with glee.
I brought it down hard,
And cut off his head.
The others that saw it
All turned, and then fled.
If God’s on your side,
Then the giants will fall.
But he’ll help YOU to stand,
No bother at all.
So whatever your problem,
Whoever your foe;
Don’t stand there in fear,
Just you have a go.
If you with God’s Spirit
Will only be filled;
The giants in your life
Will all then be killed.
Just walk in God’s way,
And you’ve nothing to fear.
Just ask Him to help you.
You ask … and He’ll hear.
