Chat Rooms...a warning !

CHAT ROOMS

You log on to a chat room,
Scan the names upon the screen;
Join in a conversation,
With someone you’ve never seen.

They say that they are still at school,
And talk of childish things;
Ask who your favourite band is…
…What’s the name of the boy that sings ?

Enthuse about your Christmas gifts,
Your friends, and what you do;
Where you go at weekends,
And who goes along with you.

They ask the colour of your eyes,
And how long is your hair ?
Is it straight or curly ?
Is it dark or fair ?

You give this information,
And receive some in reply;
Gradually building a mental image
Of your friend, in your minds eye.

BEWARE…somewhere in a lonely room,
Could sit a dangerous man;
Talking to young children
The way young children can.

Is this the man YOU’RE talking to ?
Not the person that you thought;
But a pervert, preying on the underaged,
Who really needs to be caught.

If you ever get suspicious,
Then, tell your mum and dad;
Of anything you’re not sure of,
He could be really bad.

There are some naughty men out there,
Who will gain your confidence;
By talking to you sweetly,
Sometimes leaving you in suspense.

Don’t be fooled by their attitude,
Don’t believe in all they tell;
For, beneath their constant stream of lies,
All is far from well.
