Poems of Jim Bell

Have you liked the poems of Jim Bell?

After spending his early years in the tiny Kent village of Wouldham, near Rochester, Jim Bell now lives in nearby Chatham. He worked as a Materials Technician in a Plastics Factory for 38 years, and was married for 38 years when his wife, Dolly, died in 2010. He has two sons and four grandchildren, and has been writing poetry for the past eight years. He has injected his less poignant work with a sense of humour, and keeps verses short, and easy to read. He has reflected on his life and family, plus slightly exaggerated versions of mishaps encountered at work, entwined with observations of the disabled and their harrowing situations, in an enjoyable and enthusiastic style.

Jim has three books of poetry that have been published, Reflections in two volumes, and It Must Be True, It Was In The News. They are both available from good book shops, or can be purchased below.

Every poem is well crafted, and plays with several poetic forms in an attempt to express feeling and each individual message. There are commentaries on colourful, personal characters from his life, infused with humour and pathos, as well as nostalgic recollections of youth and the magic that surrounds it. Whichever page you turn to, there is something to smile, laugh or cry at.

IT MUST BE TRUE, IT WAS IN THE NEWS (261 Pages)
All the poems in this book Will appeal to people, far and wide; They cover every subject, Some, far too good to hide. I ve scoured the daily papers, Picking out items of news; Taken articles mentioned on radio, And on television reviews. They re interpreted into my own words, Though, I haven t dug too deep, Because some are far too serious, Enough to make a grown man weep. I ve selected some light-hearted bits, Mixed in with murders, and such; But, items that are political Are too boring for me to touch. I wanted the contents of this book To relate stories most have heard; But some of the obscure they may have missed, Some are absolutely absurd. I can t vouch for their validity, Or, how I ve expressed my views; But, I guess, IT MUST BE TRUE,... ...IT WAS IN THE NEWS !
